Moonlight Beach is open until 10 pm at night during the summer. This is perfect for an outdoor bonfire. The fire pits are first come, first serve, so make sure to come down, and put your stuff around a fire pit early in the morning so you don't loose out. A fire pit is only reserved if a human being is stationed with the person. The fire pits have cement picnic benches located next to them. They are arrayed along the eastern slope of the beach, below the parking lot.
Fire pits have become endangered in the County of San Diego, so Moonlight Beach's set of fire rings have become that much more valuable during the years. The area is cleaned daily, Monday through Friday, so this is one of the nicest places to have a bonfire on the west coast.
