 Moonlight State Beach MAP is located a few blocks west of the historic Highway 101 district of Encinitas, CA. Moonlight State Beach boasts picnic areas, barbecues and many flat areas that are easy to walk along. There are 3 handicap spots located in the lower drop off area off of 4th and B streets. During low tide, there are wide sandy beaches for walking. During the summer, there are Junior lifeguard programs going for teaching the kids water safety skills.

There are also licensed surf instructors who would be happy to teach you how to surf. Getting HERE: CAR: Take I-5 to Encinitas Blvd. Go West. Encinitas Blvd will turn into B Street. Follow B Street on west towards the Pacific. There is a public parking area located above the beach, or park along one of the local streets. COAST CRUISER: Take the $1 cruiser along the Hwy 101 district. This travels all along Hwy 101, and stops at Moonlight as well as the local transit station. COASTER: Take the Coaster to the Encinitas station and walk west about five to six blocks down to the beach. Moonlight State Beach sports 3 volleyball courts as well as a great child park. The beach is very family oriented, and a haven for local surfers due to the great breaks at local D street to the South and the well guarded swimming area of the 'Moonlight Beach cove'. The plentiful bathrooms are serviced twice a day by the city during the summer. Outdoor showers allow you to clean your gear and self after a day at the beach.
It is safe to swim between the two flags which marks the cove. Surfing is only permitted outside of the Moonlight Beach Cove. The checkered flags show where the surfing/swimming border begins and ends.

The concession stand at Moonlight State Beach - MAP - in Encinitas, CA has quality coffee, fresh iced tea, and healthy food, on one of the most beautiful state park in the state of California. We serve the events that visit the park all year round at San Diego's finest beach. We are proud to serve only the finest grub with quality service. There is a selection of signature hot dogs and sausage. Let us prepare you a sandwich on a Sadie Rose Ciabatta bread, or French roll. We have only the finest selection of ice cream on the beach that will get your mouth watering on a beautiful summer day. Stop by and get hydrated with some fruit smoothies or simply an ice cold bottle of water. We are introducing some new healthier items to the menu including a few new salads, sandwiches, and local favorite fresh fruit cups. Some of these new choices, and the new renovations have caused the employees to want to get rid of the moniker 'Snack Shack', and be more like the 'Snack Cafe.' |  | Play Volleyball on the Beach and Relax: the Kid's Park Moonlight Beach, located in North San Diego County, Encinitas, has a family friendly atmosphere. In 2005 a Kids Park was built on the beach next to our store. We aim to serve the new moms that come to play with their kids. The volleyball courts are located just west of the concessions stand and it is a great place to play in a pick-up doubles game or just get the whole family on the court and have a fun time while working out. Three new nets were just installed which makes for one of the best sand volleyball courts around. The concession stand has a top of the line ball for rent, if you forget yours for the day. $5.00/hr, or $8 all day. |  | Rent our Surfboards and Body-Boards Surfboard rentals in Encinitas are a must. Our soft core surfboards and body boards are available for rental all year round so you can enjoy the beach. If you arrive to Moonlight Beach without surf boards, body boards, wet suits, chairs, or an umbrella don't worry. Moonlight Concessions Stand at Moonlight Beach has your beach rental needs covered.
